Congressman Rush gives Sen. Kirk a personal tour of Englewood

Congressman Bobby Rush gave Senator Mark Kirk a tour of Englewood yesterday. The visit stems from controversial remarks Kirk made about wanting federal money to round up 18,000 Gangster Disciples. Rush wanted to show his congressional colleague the blight that really plagues the area. Kirk met with Englewood residents who told him that jobs and investment are the key to reducing violence. They told the junior Illinois senator gangs aren’t as powerful as they once were. They emphasized that this isn’t an issue just for police. Photo: courtesy of chicagomag.com
