CPD Sergeant on what it’s like to be a cop these days

The mayor has been under intense political pressure since it came to light that CPD and his administration blocked the release of the Laquan McDonald video. Many people in the community have raised questions about how CPD officers are trained, how they patrol the city, what role the police superintendent plays, and the type of power the police have not only in Chicago, but in our country. Sergeant Rick Nigro, a 22-year veteran of the Chicago police, who currently works in the 17th district on the Northwest Side, discusses the Laquan McDonald video, the DOJ investigation, and how the day-to-day work of policing has changed as CPD has come under increased scrutiny.
