Five years ago WBEZ producer Monica Eng began investigating the food fed to Chicago school children. Her Chicago Tribune stories prompted, in part, many small changes to school food service. Five years later, she is checking back in with the district to see what has really improved. In the process of gathering the current data Eng has hit some information roadblocks under the current city and district administration.
