CPS releases budgets for schools

Chicago Public Schools officials delivered bad news to principals Monday. Two-thirds of the city’s public schools will see their budgets slashed. The cuts are driven, in large part, by declining enrollment. But are also driven by debt payments and pension obligations that are devouring the revenues that would otherwise be spent in the classroom.
