The bagpipes aren’t only for men in kilts. And they’re not just from the British Isles. Cristina Pato has been wowing the world for years with her gaita-a small version of the bagpipes from the region of northwest Spain called Galicia. Pato is in town to play with the Chicago Sinfonietta, including a U.S. premier of a jazz and tango-inspired work she commissioned for gaita, piano, and orchestra. She joins the Morning Shift to blow the bagpipe and break musical barriers.
