Playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri’s Invasion! made its Midwest debut last week, but it is Chicago Sun-Times theater critic Hedy Weiss’ review of the work that is garnering attention. Performed by Chicago’s Silk Road Rising theater company, Invasion! speaks against Muslim racial profiling. In her review, Weiss-who said the play was “somewhat recommended”-wrote “the global terror alerts dominating the news in recent days certainly do not help the arguments being made” by the play. Silk Road’s Founding Artistic Director Jamil Khoury responds to the review, and the politics the work wades into. Photo: courtesy of silkroadrising.org
