Teachers Union Cautiously Optimistic As Contract Negotiations Get Underway

There are now less than two weeks left for Mayor Lightfoot and the Chicago Public Schools to hammer out a contract.

As the June 30th deadline approaches, the Chicago Teachers Union is urging the mayor and the district to begin contract negotiations “in earnest.”

Meanwhile, Lightfoot said Thursday that the city is still weeks away from sharing its contract proposal.

So, how are the negotiations shaping up, and what could they mean for teachers, and more importantly, students?
