Before it closed Saturday after nearly 50 years in business, Orbit Skate Center was one of the largest skating rinks in the Midwest. The roller rink in north suburban Palatine is just the latest to close in the Chicago area in recent years. As time goes on, it seems that skating in general is fading into a thing of the past. Tony Sarabia talks to Chicago Tribu ne reporter Chris Borrelli, who talked to long-time skaters at the rink before it closed. We also have Sandra Levin on the line, the owner of the popular rink for 25 years. We’ll also go to the phones and hear from listeners about their good times rolling around on eight wheels.
