DJs send anti-violence message, but what about their playlists?
Last week Mayor Rahm Emanuel reached out to music radio stations popular with young people in the African-American and Hispanic communities with a request. He asked them to join a campaign called “Put The Guns Down”, where DJs on each station would use that phrase on air, and the stations would participate in a monthly simulcast focusing on the community’s responsibility in effort to bring down violence. But will it take more than just this message? What about the message behind the music? Tony Sculfield from the "Morning Riot" on WGCI joins us to talk about the effort.
