Food Wednesday: Tracking domestic meat production

Although there are signs that American meat consumption is slowing with things like "Meatless Mondays" and more people adopting flexitarianism, lots of policy questions remain over the production of meat in this country. In this week’s Chewing the Fat episode, co-hosts Louisa Chu and Monica Eng look at what it takes to put meat on our plates including some policy questions that are in flux. They join Morning Shift to talk about everything from reduced USDA inspections to the potential for local venison to help Illinois out of its pension mess. Photo: Flickr/Mika Hiironniemi
