By Meha AhmadChicago Public Schools’ school year ends this week and for many graduating seniors, it means getting things in order to begin their post-high school life, whether that means college, working or even taking a gap year.
A gap year is when a graduate decides to defer college for a year while they take some time to travel, work, or just pretty much do whatever they want.
Typically it’s something reserved for those who can afford it — seniors from wealthy families who can financially support them while they figure things out.
But now, thanks to an organization called Global Citizen Year, four Chicago teens are getting the same chance to do something they never thought was an option for them.
