Grocery shopping in Chicago has become a metaphor for our economic condition

The whole idea behind being a “DREAMer” is that your parents brought you to this country when you were very young...so that you could be in a place where you could have big dreams come true. Like growing up to be a doctor. But only one medical school in the state is allowing DREAMers to apply. Today on the Morning Shift-we’ll find out why this one med school said yes to undocumented students. We’ll also get the facts on private schools in the Chicago area... the lowdown on changes to some standardized tests in Illinois… And we’ll begin a week-long series that uses grocery stores as a metaphor for life in Chicago.
