On this World AIDS Day, we discuss the next generation of people with HIV and AIDS and how one Chicago doctor is helping those affected here. More than a fifth of all new HIV infections in the United States are in teens and other young people between the ages of 13 and 24, according to the most recent data from the CDC. A lot of them go undiagnosed. Dr. Rob Garofalo is director of the Adolescent/Young Adult HIV Program at Lurie Children’s Hospital, and founder of Fred Says, a charity that helps HIV-positive teens.
