Nearly 1700 buildings were torn down in Englewood and West Englewood since 2008, but a new investigation by the Chicago Sun-Times found that the demolitions have not led to development in the neighborhood. 

Only one neighborhood — West Town — had more tear downs during that period, but in West Town, new buildings are going up in their place. In Englewood, vacant lots stay vacant.
