If you tuned in to the Morning Shift on Wednesday, you heard our live two-hour post-election show from Robert Morris University in the Loop. We talked with our state politics reporters, party leaders, and some winning candidates, including Congressman-elect Sean Casten, a progressive scientist and political newbie who toppled five-term Republican incumbent Peter Roskam in the 6th congressional district in the western suburbs.

Springfield has its share of progressive lawmakers as well, and we thought we’d check in with one of them to see how the blue wave that swept across Illinois is informing what comes next in the state capital.
