Earlier this month, a special panel named Rep. Christian Mitchell interim executive director of the Illinois Democratic Party. He’s the first black man to hold the position. He replaces, Tim Mapes, who served as executive director and House Speaker Michael Madigan’s chief of staff. Mapes was ousted after an aide accused him of harassment.
