A federal judge on Thursday in the far southern Indiana city of Evansville will hear a challenge to Indiana’s law prohibiting same-sex marriage. The plaintiffs, however, are a couple from Northwest Indiana. Niki Quasney and Amy Sandler live just right over the border from Illinois in the town of Munster. The couple were married in Massachusetts last year but Indiana does not recognize the marriage. Kiki is battling ovarian cancer as she battles Indiana’s law. The couple also have two children. Indiana Attorney General Gregg Zoeller plans to defend Indiana’s law. Northwest Indiana Bureau reporter Michael Puente has the details of the case. Photo: Flickr/netmonkey
