Heather Ireland Robinson is a long-time arts administrator. She was the executive director of the Beverly Arts Center. She’s also been appointed to Mayor Emanuel’s Cultural Advisory Council, and she sits on the the board of directors of Arts Alliance Illinois. However, she is the first African American person to head up the Jazz Institute of Chicago in its nearly 50 year history. We talk to Heather Ireland Robinson about her background, her vision for institute, and how her she thinks the arts can enrich our understanding of Chicago’s history and future.
