By Daniel TuckerThe Senate Judiciary Committee advanced President Trump’s nominee to be the next U.S. Attorney for the Northern District here in Chicago, making it all the more likely that he’ll be confirmed by the full Senate later this year. John Lausch is a former federal prosecutor with a lot of experience on gang-related cases. He’s a graduate of Joliet Catholic, Northwestern and Harvard who spent more than a decade as an assistant U.S. attorney and is currently a partner at the Kirkland & Ellis law firm here in Chicago.
Morning Shift talks with former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti about the type of lawyer and man John Lausch is and what his priorities could be if and when he becomes the next U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. Mariotti worked with Lausch for four years in the U.S. Attorney’s office. He’s currently a partner at Thompson Coburn LLP.
