The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced President Trump’s nominee to be the next U.S. Attorney for the Northern District here in Chicago, making it all the more likely that he’ll be confirmed by the full Senate later this year. John Lausch is a former federal prosecutor with a lot of experience on gang-related cases. He’s a graduate of Joliet Catholic, Northwestern and Harvard who spent more than a decade as an assistant U.S. attorney and is currently a partner at the Kirkland & Ellis law firm here in Chicago.
