Kevin Coval Takes Readers Through Poet’s-Eye-View Of Chicago
From Carl Sandburg to Gwendolyn Brooks to Shel Silverstein, a long line of poets that have illuminated the beautiful grit of our city, and the special character of its residents. That line extends to Kevin Coval.
Coval is probably best known as the founder of Louder Than A Bomb, billed as the largest youth poetry festival in the world. His upcoming book of poetry, A People’s History of Chicago, pays tribute to the city’s 77 neighborhoods and looks at race, politics, music, violence, and more through his own special lens.
