For the third straight year, the Jazz Institute of Chicago has teamed up with the legendary Drake Hotel to present NextGenJazz. From April to October, some of the city’s most promising young musicians play at the Drake the first three Tuesdays of the month. The featured artist for June is Laurenzi/Ernst/Green, a sax/bass/drums trio that’s integrated themselves very quickly in the city’s famed improvised music scene by pushing the concept of the traditional Jazz trio and incorporating elements of indie rock, folk, minimalism, and more.
