President Obama used the Labor Day holiday to denounce his political opponents for what he called their “attack on working Americans” and to sign an executive order extending paid sick leave to 300,000 more federal workers. The President also urged Congress to pass the Healthy Families Act, a bill that would require businesses with more than 14 employees to offer seven days of paid sick leave. Illinois lawmakers are considering a similar bill at the state level. When it comes to paid time off for workers who are sick, caring for sick loved ones, and maternity leave.
