First Lady Michelle Obama gave the commencement address at King College Prep Tuesday night. The magnet school in Kenwood on Chicago’s South Side would have been the alma mater of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old girl who was shot and killed in a neighborhood park one week after she performed at President Obama’s second inauguration in 2013. Since Pendleton’s death, Mrs. Obama has kept in touch with students at the school. WBEZ’s Natalie Moore attended the First Lady’s address last night and joins us now.
