Music Thursday: The Hammond B3 organ

Eighty years ago American engineer Laurens Hammond bought a used piano, took it apart and began experimenting with various sound generating methods. The results gave birth to a new type of organ that has been used in roller skating rinks, churches and scores of music venues. WBEZ’s Tony Sarbia and Richard Steele celebrate the sound of the Hammond organ. Photo: Flikr- ArtBrom
