Some of the country’s largest school districts all the way up to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan have called for less testing in schools as some estimates say that students take up to 113 standardized tests by the time they graduate. Are all these tests needed for kids to get ahead? Education writer Anya Kamenetz tackles this question in her book The Test: Why Our Schools are Obsessed with Standardized Testing — But You Don’t Have To Be and provides possible solutions to the testing dilemma.
