In Nuns on the Bus: The Movie, Sister Simone Campbell says “for me, Jesus has always been about justice”. That’s the documentary that profiles Sister Simone as she and her fellow nuns cross the country to raise awareness about social justice issues. That activism has received pushback, even leading the Vatican to denounce their work as going against Catholic doctrine. Now, it seems these nuns have found an ally with the new social-justice minded Pope Francis. Sr. Simone was in Chicago Tuesday to help push voters to the polls. She tells us why that push is important, and details how she and the other nuns are pushing the envelope in the Catholic Church.
