Retired Chicago police homicide detective Gerald Hamilton, and single father, has been a foster father to more than 100 boys for the last three decades; that’s in addition to his five biological children. He’s had a nearly 30-year career in law enforcement, serving as an officer in Park Forest, Illinois, and for the Chicago Police Department. His commitment to being a father figure to those lacking a positive male figure in their lives started with his contact with various social service agencies as an officer. Hamilton simply wanted to provide stability to young African-American, Latino and white males who were heading down the wrong path. He share details of his experience as a father to so many.
