Oscar winner brings activism to his art

Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black has made the fight for equal rights for the LGBT community a central focus of his work. He won the Oscar in 2009 for Best Original Screenplay for Milk, the biopic about the late civil rights activist Harvey Milk. His play, 8, took on the fight to overturn the same sex marriage ban in California. Dustin Lance Black talks about the collision of his activism, his work and his life. Black speaks at Elmhurst College Thursday night. (Photo: Flickr/Clinically Nomadic)
