Otaak Band creates a fusion of tribal Sudanese music and the blues

American musician Miguel Merino traveled to Cairo in 2009 and met Eastern Sudanese lyre player Ahmed Said Abuamna. The two began playing music together and formed a group called Otaak Band. In 2012 they recorded Bejawiya. Otaak Band brings their sound to Morning Shift with a preview of their show at the Old Town School of Folk Music. (Photo courtesy of Otaak Band)
