Playwright and actors of Southbridge set the stage
It’s 1881. A young black man is in danger of being lynched by an angry mob outside a jail in Athens, Ohio. He’s been accused of the brutality of a white woman. This is the setting for Playwright Reginald Edmund in his critically acclaimed play, Southbridge. The play is being staged at the Chicago Dramatists Theatre, and we’re joined in studio by Edmund, and actor Manny Buckley.
