Record Store Day Celebrates The Brick-and-Mortar Tradition

Technology allows us to get our music without ever having to leave the house; whether it’s via Pandora, Amazon or Spotify. Before the advent of the internet though, the Record Store was not only the place to buy new music, but to chat up a record shop owner about upcoming music trends, spar over the merits the latest release with your friend and gaze up the album you wanted but couldn't afford to buy. Record Store Day this Saturday celebrates that culture.

Sound Opinions producer, host of Vocalo’s Reclaimed Soul and our resident crate digger Ayana Contreras joins Morning Shift to talk about the state of vinyl, the culture of the record shop, and to share some of her favorite record store finds. We  also open the phones to hear about the record you were most excited to discover while digging through the crates.
