Illinois residents could soon have legal recreational marijuana.
The legislative session in Springfield kicked off earlier this week. It wraps on May 31, and it’s likely that Democratic lawmakers will bring the idea to the floor.
One person who is working to bring racial equity to the industry is State rep Sonya Harper. The Democrat from Chicago is head of the cannabis equity work group in the Legislative Black Caucus.
