Tuesday’s episode of HBO’s Real Sports profiled several members of the championship ‘85 Chicago Bears team who are bringing a lawsuit against the NFL. The suit alleges a culture of painkillers and alcohol being pushed onto players by team physicians. It’s the latest in a string of anecdotal reports of players being misinformed about the dangers and physical repercussions of a career in football. After the piece aired, other members of the same Bears team went on record to defend team practices and play down the allegations. WBEZ’s Cheryl-Raye Stout, ESPN’s Lester Munson and ‘85 Bears tight end Emery Moorehead join us for more on the story. Photo: Flickr/Jim Larrison
