The suspected enterovirus 68 germ outbreak sent more than 70 kids to the hospital this past Labor Day weekend. The illness has both doctors and state health officials probing for answers of the possible cause of the outbreak that’s plagued the Midwest. Recently, similar outbreaks like the one that appeared at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL, have been reported in St. Louis and Kansas City, MO. We talk with the Illinois Department of Public Health Director, Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck about the virus and how parents can protect their children as fall is right around the corner.
