Revitalized Chicago River Could Lead To Big Economic Gains

According to a new report from Friends of the Chicago River, there are more than 37,000 acres of open land on or near the Chicago River’s banks. The organization has proposed turning some of that space into natural areas, saying it will help create jobs and protect plant and animal species whose habitats are interrupted by the city.

Morning Shift sits down with Margaret Frisbie, executive director of Friends Of the Chicago River, to discuss her proposal in more detail.
