School starts in a few short days and thousands of students whose schools closed will have to walk further to get to new, receiving schools. There have been two fatal shootings in the last week along two of those routes, routes specifically designated by Chicago Public Schools as “Safe Passages”.The first happened near Drake Elementary in Bronzeville on Saturday and on Monday around 4:30 p.m., someone opened fire near Brenneman Elementary in Uptown.
