Show visits some forgotten gems from the Soul world

The creation of a new CPS Selective Enrollment public high school, Barack Obama High School, was announced this week. The school is slated to open on the Near North Side, less than two miles from Walter Payton Prep-another Selective Enrollment school. Meanwhile, activists from a variety of West and South Side neighborhoods are pushing back, especially in light of the 50 schools that were closed down last year. Vocalo's Reclaimed Soul host Ayana Contreras brings us songs from CPS students and teachers from schools on the West and South Sides of Chicago. (Photo: Flickr/Ninα)
