SNAP recipients can get good deals at local farmers markets
By the end of this month more than 150 weekly farmers will be in operation in the Chicago area. But not all of them operate under the same rules. Some are all about the local produce while others are about nurturing new businesses or trying to bring even a little fresh produce to an area. Connie Spreen, founder of the 61st Street Farmers Market in Woodlawn, is leading the effort to make it easier for folks to use SNAP funds at farmers markets. She explains how.
