Some farmers claim new food safety regulations could kill small farms

New provisions of the nation’s Food Safety Act are meant to protect consumers from tainted produce, but some farmers, advocates and anti-obesity groups believe they will shut down small to medium-sized farms in Illinois and beyond. Consumers have until November 15 to register their thoughts on the rules through the government’s comment site. Deirdre Schlunegger of STOP Foodborne Illness and Wes King, executive director of the Illinois Stewardship Alliance, join us to talk about concerns and support for the new provisions.
