For dog owners, a dog park is the only place in the city where their pets can be let off their leash without being slapped with a $300 fine. And while there are 22 official dog parks in the city, there are only two are south of Roosevelt Road. Now a popular unofficial dog park in Jackson Park—a neighborhood low on green space—is slated to be demolished to make way for the new $30 million, Tiger Woods-designed golf course coming to the area. Alderman Sophia King held a meeting Tuesday night to explore bringing a dog-friendly space to the 4th Ward, which includes parts of Hyde Park and Kenwood.
