For dog owners, a dog park is the only place in the city where their pets can be let off their leash without being slapped with a $300 fine. And while there are 22 official dog parks in the city, there are only two are south of Roosevelt Road. Now a popular unofficial dog park in Jackson Park—a neighborhood low on green space—is slated to be demolished to make way for the new $30 million, Tiger Woods-designed golf course coming to the area. Alderman Sophia King held a meeting Tuesday night to explore bringing a dog-friendly space to the 4th Ward, which includes parts of Hyde Park and Kenwood. Alderman King joins the Morning Shift to break down what was discussed and what kinds of questions and comments she heard from residents.
