Talking To Young People About Charlottesville And Race

Events like the deadly clash between protesters in Charlottesville, Va. put a spotlight on issues of race, religion, class and intolerance. This clash isn’t new. But they do trigger difficult questions from young people about race.

For advice on how to have productive conversations with family and friends about these issues, we turn to Lori Taliaferro Riddick, an educator who works with school districts to train superintendents and other leaders to talk about race. She runs the blog Raising Race Conscious Children.

This segment was produced by Carrie Shepherd and Kyra Mitchell.
