Tech inventors, biohackers and billionaire eccentrics want the human race to evolve into cyborgs. No, this is not an episode of Black Mirror.

This is the goal of the so-called “transhumanism” movement, which seeks to find ways to merge man and machine in an effort to win the future battle against our Artificial Intelligence overlords… and potentially cheat death in the process. 

Is this idea simply theoretical or is the machine already at work? Morning Shift talks to Mark O’Connell, author of To Be A Machine, about his journey exploring the transhumanism movement and the effort to solve the “modest problem of death.”
