Tony Smith tapped as new head of ISBE

In his first 100 days in office, Gov. Bruce Rauner has been making changes in his administration and ushering in his choices for state agency leaders. Last week he tapped administrator Dr. Tony Smith as the new Superintendent of the Illinois State Board of Education. Dr. Tony Smith was working in the Oakland, California, school district before relocating to the Chicago area last year to work for a non-profit focused on early education child development. Dr. Smith joins us to outline what he sees as priorities for the state’s schools. (Flickr/J. Stephen Conn)
