Since 2006, Michigan native Ty Maxon has called Chicago home. And while some consider the 20-something songwriter folk singer, he doesn’t quite see it that way. Or at least that’s not his aim. He says he’s just intent on storytelling, and sets it to music without a concern about what type of music that will be, and whatever comes out is what comes out. He’s joined in WBEZ studios by longtime collaborator, Ryan Suzuka. Maxon has a couple of Chicago shows coming up, and stops in on the Morning Shift to talk about these stories that poor out of him in the form of songs — folk, or not.
