In her new book Girls and Sex: Navigating the Complicated New Landscape, writer and journalist Peggy Orenstein explores the sexual lives of teenage girls and young women. Orenstein interviewed more than 70 girls and young women between the ages of 15 and 20 to get their take on sex and sexuality and to find out what today’s “hookup culture” means for the way they see themselves and the world.

We talk with Orenstein about what she learned while researching and writing the book and what lessons the stories she tells have for girls, boys and their parents.
