What Trump’s New Travel Ban Means For Chicago Immigrants And Their Families

The Trump administration rolled out its latest travel ban Sunday night with a proclamation. This latest iteration includes more countries, moving it further from being a so-called “Muslim ban” as critics of earlier versions contended.

So, what’s included in the new ban and what does it mean for immigrants in Chicago and their families?

Morning Shift talks to immigration and labor lawyer Mercedes Badia-Tavas. She’s the Chicago chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. We also hear from Ahmed Rehab, executive director of the Chicago office of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy and civil liberties organization, which issued a strongly-worded statement criticizing the latest ban.
