With Growing Latino Population, Initiatives Aim to Give Students What They Need
Over the last decade, Latinos have overtaken African-American students to become the largest single group within Chicago Public Schools. Their gains on test scores and graduation rates are driving improvement in the district, but also raising questions of specific needs that will serve these students. Morning Shift talks to Karen Garibay-Mulattieri from Latino Policy Forum about whether policies are directing funds to where they need to be, and how Chicago compares to other cities with shifting demographics.
