Attorneys for women correctional officers in Cook County are seeking class-action status in a lawsuit over aggressive sexual harassment by male detainees at the county jail.
The proposed class-action suit claims the sheriff’s department violated the civil rights of at least 2,000 women employees by tolerating a culture of abuse. In multiple lawsuits, women reported being groped, threatened and sexually harassed by inmates.
