A brutal heat wave is making its way to Chicago.

Starting Thursday, temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s with humidity pushing the heat index north of 100 degrees. The last time a similar heat wave hit the city was in 2013. 

In 1995, a weeklong heat wave took the lives of more than 700 Chicagoans.
