In both stories on this episode of Stories on Stage, a husband and wife are torn apart by circumstances beyond their control.

The first story, “The Politics of Rain,” by George Clark, is set in the troubled country of Cuba, with a husband and wife grappling with their fate while cruising in their Montuno.  Directed by Cheryl Lynn Bruce and read by Micah M. Smyth.

The second story, Robert Olen Butler’s “Carl and I,” is a darkly romantic tale of love in a time of tuberculosis, and was originally published in the book Had A Good Time: Stories From American Postcards.  All of the stories in the book are inspired by images and messages that the author found on early twentieth century postcards.  Directed by Steve Scott and read by Kate Fry.

Both stories were originally presented during our 2005 live performance season at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
